Child porn: Centre tells SC it has blocked 3,500 websites, asked CBSE to install jammers in schools
Additional Solicitor General Pinky Anand told the bench that it was not possible to install jammers in school buses.
The Centre told the Supreme Court on Friday that it is taking major steps to block websites that host child pornographic content, PTI reported. The Bharatiya Janata Party-led Union government also said that around 3,500 websites hosting such content have been blocked in June.
The government said it had asked the Central Board for Secondary Education to consider whether jammers can be installed in schools to curb access to websites having child pornographic content. “We are coming out with steps which will deal with the situation in its entirety,” Additional Solicitor General Pinky Anand told the bench. She said it was not possible to install jammers in school buses.
The Centre added that it would file a status report on the steps taken by it to curb child pornography. The apex court asked it to file the report within two days.
