Delhi High Court on Tuesday reserved its order on the bail plea of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s adopted daughter Honeypreet Insan, ANI reported. On Monday, Honeypreet Insan, who has been accused of inciting violence after Ram Rahim was convicted of rape, had approached the High Court for transit anticipatory bail.

Honeypreet Insan, who was born Priyanka Taneja, has been absconding since a lookout notice was issued against her on September 1. On September 19, the Haryana Police had charged her for allegedly inciting violence after Ram Rahim was convicted of rape in August. She has also been accused of sedition for allegedly plotting to help Ram Rahim escape.

During the hearing on Tuesday, the bench asked her counsel to explain why the bail application would be considered to come under the jurisdiction of the Delhi High Court. The lawyer said she had a house in the national Capital and was concerned that she may be arrested, ANI reported.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Panchkula police conducted raids on a house in south Delhi in search for Honeypreet. However, they failed to find her there. “The Panchkula Police came with an arrest warrant for her,” The Hindu quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Romil Baaniya as saying.

Baaniya said after the raids that the Panchkula police found Honeypreet had not visited or stayed at the location in recent months.

On August 28, a special court of the Central Bureau of Investigation in Panchkula had sentenced Ram Rahim to 20 years in prison for raping two of his followers in 2002. Forty people had died and more than 250 were injured in the violence that erupted after the verdict on August 25.
