Gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s younger brother Iqbal Kaskar and his gang members were booked in a fresh case for extortion on Tuesday. Kaskar and his gang allegedly extorted Rs 3 crore from a prominent builder in north Mumbai.

The builder had complained that Kaskar had threatened and extorted the money from him over a 38-acre land deal in Gorai area, a police official said. They have been booked under Sections 384 (extortion), 386 (extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt) and 387 (putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt in order to commit extortion) of the Indian Penal Code.

This is the third extortion case filed against Kaskar and his gang in a month. The Thane Police’s anti-extortion cell had on September 18 arrested Kaskar for allegedly running an extortion racket since 2013.

Kaskar was deported to India from United Arab Emirates in 2003. He was wanted in a murder case and the Sara-Sahara illegal construction case, in which two malls were built on state-owned land reserved for a municipal school. However, he was acquitted in both the cases in 2007.
