A housekeeping staff has been arrested for allegedly raping a six-year-old student inside the toilet of a private school in south Delhi on Wednesday afternoon, the Hindustan Times reported.

The police said the accused was hired at the school three months ago. On Wednesday, the Class 1 student had gone to the washroom inside her school. Her father told the police that a woman employee, who was assigned to help students in the washroom, was away because of some other work.

“After using the washroom, my daughter called the woman for help but the accused entered and assaulted her sexually,” the Hindustan Times quoted the girl’s father as saying.

Her parents said the child came home at 2.30 pm and told her mother about what had happened. The police were called after the parents informed the school principal of the incident.

The child was taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, where doctors confirmed rape, and are believed to have told her parents that she will need surgery to treat internal wounds, the English newspaper reported.

The incident comes a month after a peon of an east Delhi school was arrested for allegedly raping a Class 1 student, and a bus conductor was arrested for allegedly murdering a Class 2 student in the toilet of the Ryan International School in Gurugram.
