Virginia shooting: One injured, lockdown at state university lifted
The police said there is no further threat, but officers will remain alert.

The campus lockdown at the Virginia State University in Petersburg, United States, after a shooting on Saturday night, has been lifted, the police said.
At least one person was shot but does not have life-threatening injuries, CBS News reported quoting its affiliate WTVR-TV in Richmond, Virginia.

Soon after the shooting, the police enforced a lockdown and warned people to avoid the area. The scene has now been cleared, but officers will remain vigilant, the police said.
There is no word on the shooter yet.

The Chesterfield Police Department said, “The police believe this is an isolated incident, and there is no further threat to the campus,” an AP report said.
The university was celebrating the last day of its homecoming weekend when the firing was reported. People were able to enter and leave the campus on foot, but no vehicles were allowed in or out.
