Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Thursday said he has ordered that the murder case of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader Gosain be transferred to the National Investigation Agency. Ravinder Gosain was shot dead by two unidentified men on Tuesday in Punjab’s Ludhiana.

“On request of the RSS, I have ordered transfer of Gosain murder case to NIA for better coordination between central agencies and the Punjab police,” Singh said on Twitter.

The assailants had fired two bullets in Gosain’s neck and back when he had left home to take his dog out for a walk. The police had started an investigation on the same day, but have yet to make any arrests.

The 58-year-old RSS leader was the head of the Raghunath Nagar Mohan Shakha in Ludhiana. He also held a position with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s district unit.
