Google Play introduces feature that lets users try out an app before installing it
Instant Apps were first introduced in 2016, but there were few that supported the ‘Try It Now’ feature.
Google on Thursday announced a new way for users to try apps without installing them on their Android device. The tech giant said at Google Play Playtime events in Berlin and San Francisco that its Instant Apps were available on the Google Play Store.
“We’re excited to integrate Android Instant Apps with a ‘Try it Now’ button on store listings,” Google said in a blog post. “With a single tap, people can jump right into the app experience without installing.”
Instant Apps were first introduced at Google’s developer conference in 2016. The feature comes in handy, for instance, when a user wants to use an app only once to book tickets. So far, the number of apps that support the feature are few.
At the event, Google also introduced its Google Play Security Rewards Program meant to improve app security. Poor security on some of the apps available for Android devices has threatened the phones of millions of users in recent years.
