At least 31 people, including an Indian woman were killed on Saturday when a bus heading towards Nepal’s capital of Kathmandu from Rajbiraj municipality plunged into the Trishuli river in Dhading district, Reuters reported quoting government official Ram Mani Mishra. Police have recovered 20 bodies from the river. The incident occurred around 5 am on Saturday morning, The Kathmandu Post said.

Twelve of these 20 bodies have been identified, including that of Mamata Devi Thakur, the Indian woman. Government administer Shyam Prasad Bhandari told Reuters that 16 people have been injured, including two with grave injuries who have been taken to a hospital in Kathmandu.

At least 13 people are still feared trapped under the bus, with rescue operations still on as of Saturday evening. Mishra said rescuers and police divers managed to spot the bus hours after the crash and were trying to lift it from water with the help of a crane.
