A Twitter employee deactivated United States President Donald Trump’s personal account before the account was restored in 11 minutes’ time, the social networking platform said on Friday. It was the employee’s last day of work, the firm said. As a result, Trump’s account page – @realDonaldTrump – showed the message “Sorry, that page does not exist!” for that brief period.

The President’s official account was not affected.

Twitter first tweeted about this at 5.35 am Indian time, saying the account had been “inadvertently deactivated due to human error” by a worker. About two hours later, it said an investigation confirmed that it was done by a customer support employee. A full internal review is under way, Twitter said.

Trump has 41.7 million followers on Twitter, and has been active on the website since March 2009. He has not yet responded to the news on his Twitter handle.
