The Border Security Force killed an intruder and stopped an infiltration bid along the international border in RS Pura of Jammu district on Thursday morning, PTI reported.

The Indian troops saw two to three people moving suspiciously along the International Border near Nikowal Border outpost in Arnia sector around 5.45 am. When they did not stop despite an order from the security forces, the BSF opened fire, senior official Ram Awtar was quoted as saying. While the others escaped, one of the men was shot dead, he added.

The security force also destroyed two mortar positions of Pakistani forces as retaliation for the unprovoked mortar shelling and firing in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajpura area on Wednesday that reportedly killed a head constable of the BSF.

The constable was identified as RP Hazra, who turned 51 on Wednesday. He was severely wounded after Pakistani forces allegedly “sniped” from across the border at about 4 pm, officials said. He succumbed to his injuries at a nearby medical centre.
