There was nothing suspicious about actor Sridevi’s death, says Ministry of External Affairs
Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said if there was any foul play, it would have ‘come out by now’.
The Ministry of External Affairs on Friday said if there was anything suspicious about the circumstances surrounding Sridevi’s death, “it would have come out by now”, ANI reported.
At a press briefing, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said India had received all the paperwork from the United Arab Emirates government, and that Sridevi’s mortal remains were brought to India only after that.
The actor died in Dubai on February 24, and her body was flown to Mumbai three days later.
Sridevi was in Dubai to attend her nephew’s wedding with husband Boney Kapoor and her younger daughter Khushi. The actor was getting ready for dinner with her husband when she died in her room at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers hotel.
Boney Kapoor had said he knocked on the door, and when he did not get a response, forced it open to see her “lying motionless in a bathtub full of water”. The government of Dubai confirmed that Sridevi died after accidentally drowning in the bathtub of her hotel room after losing consciousness.
