Bihar: Two journalists killed in Bhojpur district
They were hit by a car that is reportedly owned by a local politician.
Two journalists were killed near Nahsi village in Bihar’s Bhojpur district on Sunday when a vehicle owned by a local politician rammed their bike, PTI reported. The two were identified as Navin Nishchal, who worked for Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar, and his colleague Vijay Singh.
Angry villagers surrounded the vehicle and set it on fire, Bhojpur’s Superintendent of Police Avakash Kumar said. They later blocked a road in protest against the incident and relented only after the police assured them that action would be taken against the accused. The local market too was closed in protest against the incident, Hindustan reported.
Navin Nishchal’s brother Rajesh Nishchal filed a police complaint against former panchayat leader Ahmed Ali, who is also known as Harsu, and his son Dabloo. The vehicle reportedly belonged to Ali, who is now absconding, NDTV reported. Rajesh Nishchal alleged that Ali decided to kill his borther because of a dispute between the two, the police said.
