Indrani Mukerjea, who has been jailed in Mumbai’s Arthur Road prison in connection with the murder case of her daughter Sheena Bora, was on Friday night taken to JJ Hospital in the city, in a “delirious condition”, The Times of India reported. She has been placed in the hospital’s critical care unit.

JJ Hospital Dean SD Nanandkar said that preliminary tests suggest poisoning or drug overdose, according to ANI. “We’re waiting for reports,” Nanandkar said.

Medical Superintendent Sanjay Surase confirmed that Mukerjea was brought to the hospital. “We are still evaluating her,” he said. “Currently, she has been shifted to the critical care unit from the emergency ward for observation. Her condition is stable.”

Mukerjea had undergone liver and kidney function tests, a CT scan of her brain and an ultrasound of her abdomen area, NDTV reported, quoting unidentified officials.

Mukerjea’s lawyer Gunjan Mangla visited the hospital to meet her client, ANI reported. However, hospital authorities refused her permission to do so, asking her to take the approval of jail officials first.

In 2015, she was admitted in JJ Hospital in an unconscious state after overdosing on pills.
