Seven people were injured after a girder at a Delhi Metro construction site in Ghaziabad’s Mohan Nagar crashed on Monday, ANI reported. An autorickshaw, a motorbike and a car were also damaged in the accident.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said the steel girder was erected to build a foot overbridge in Mohan Nagar on the Dilshad Garden-New Bus Adda corridor. “We are verifying the details and will update further at the earliest,” the corporation said.

The chief project manager and general manager for safety of the DMRC are at the site to review the situation, an official said, according to IANS.

“The injured have been rushed to a hospital for treatment. A few vehicles were also damaged when the girder fell near the busy intersection,” Sahibabad circle officer Rakesh Mishra told the Hindustan Times.

The 9.41-kilometre metro extension is expected to have eight stations in Ghaziabad: Shaheed Nagar, Raj Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala, River Hindon and New Bus stand.
