Madhya Pradesh: Police arrest two men on charges of molesting model in Indore
They had reportedly tried to pull off her skirt on a busy road last week.
The Madhya Pradesh Police on Tuesday arrested two people for allegedly molesting a model in Indore last week, ANI reported. The two men, who worked at a retail outlet, were tracked down with the help of closed circuit television camera footage.
“The accused are identified as Lucky and Bunty, aged between 20 and 25 years,” PTI quoted Deputy Inspector General Harinarayanchari Mishra as saying. The police have booked them under sections of the Indian Penal Code related to “assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty” and “words, gestures or acts intended to insult the modesty of a woman”.
On April 22, the model wrote on social media 22 that while she was driving her two-wheeler, two men rode up close to her, tugged at her skirt and shouted, “show us what is underneath”. She said she tried to stop them but lost control of her vehicle and fell.
“It happened on one of the busiest roads of Indore, and nobody tried to stop them,” she said, adding that an older man who came to help her told her she was harassed because she was wearing a skirt. “Those guys do not have any right to harass me because wearing a skirt does not give you a right to behave like that,” she tweeted.
