IndiGo on Friday announced that its president, Aditya Ghosh, will resign on July 31. The company said Gregory Taylor has been hired as a senior advisor, and the board would consider his appointment as president and chief executive officer. Till then, airline’s promoter Rahul Bhatia will take charge as the interim CEO.

“For the last 10 years, it has been a relentless, exhilarating and a most satisfying task building IndiGo,” said Ghosh in a statement released by IndiGo. “It is now time for me to step off the treadmill and sometime in the near future embark on my next adventure.”

Taylor has served as the executive vice president of revenue management and network planning at IndiGo between 2016 and 2017. “His enormous and varied experience and understanding of the complexities of the airline industry will be invaluable to our future plans,” said Bhatia.

The announcements come just days before the May 2 board meeting where the results for the quarter that ended in March will be finalised, reported Mint. Ghosh’s resignation also comes at a time when the budget carrier is facing problems after the Director General of Civil Aviation grounded some of its planes that are fitted with faulty Pratt & Whitney engines. Besides, the airline has been criticised for not having a friendly approach when dealing with their passengers. In January, a Parliamentary panel asked IndiGo to “look inward and find out the reasons for the discourteous attitude and rude and indifferent behaviour of their employees”.
