At least 11 people have died in different road accidents across Uttar Pradesh since Friday night.

Five people were killed and two were seriously injured on Friday when a truck, laden with sand, crashed into their car after overturning in Unnao district.

The car was headed to Vrindavan when the accident occurred on Chakalvanshi-Mianganj road, IANS reported. The truck driver lost control, following which the vehicle overturned. Four of the deceased – identified as Nirmala, Sarvan, and two minors aged 13 and 10 – belonged to the same family, the police said. The driver, Hiralal, also lost his life.

Two people were rescued from the mangled car and are undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.

In another incident, four members of a family died after a truck overturned and crashed into their roadside eatery in Lakhimpur Kheri on Saturday morning, PTI reported.

The police said the driver’s negligence caused the accident and identified the deceased as Badalu, who ran the eatery on Sisaiya-Bahraich road, his daughter Nazima and two granddaughters, aged 3 and 18.

In the third incident, two people were killed and a man was injured near Hathras city around 8 am on Saturday. A container vehicle hit their motorcycle, killing the pillion riders. The motorcycle rider is undergoing treatment at a district hospital, Additional Superintendent of Police Siddhartha Verma told PTI.
