The Gujarat Police have filed a case against five men and two women in connection with the alleged rape of a woman in Ahmedabad over the past four months.

The 22-year-old woman on Thursday said a group of men had first sexually assaulted her in a moving vehicle in March, and then once more earlier this week, News18 reported. While some reports cited her as saying the latest attack occurred on Tuesday, others said it was on Wednesday.

The woman told the police that the gang had filmed the crime and blackmailed her with the video clips.

The Ahmedabad Mahila Crime Branch is investigating the crime. “We have completed the medical examination of the victim,” Mahila Crime Branch Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Panna Momaya told News18. “The complainant has stated in the first information report that, on three occasions, the accused threatened to make the video recordings of her gangrape viral.”

The woman told the police that in March, the accused had abducted her from Nehrunagar Circle in Ahmedabad and sexually assaulted her in a moving vehicle. They then blackmailed her and sought Rs 50,000 from her, she told the police, adding that they also threatened to kill her boyfriend. She claimed she gave them Rs 3,700 and a gold ring before they molested her in a vehicle again. The police said the woman knew the accused.

She filed the complaint with the Satellite Police station on Thursday after Abhayam, a government helpline, advised her to do so, the Hindustan Times reported. The police are searching for the accused and have identified three of them as Vrushbh Maru, Gaurav Dalmia and Yamini Nair.
