A court in Delhi on Monday ordered that a case be filed against actor Mahaakshay Chakraborty and his mother, former actress Yogita Bali, in connection with a rape complaint filed by a woman, PTI reported. Mahaakshay Chakraborty is the son of veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty.

The complainant, a Bhojpuri actress, has alleged that Mahaakshay Chakraborty cheated and raped her on the pretext of marriage, and when she got pregnant, he forced her to abort. She accused Yogita Bali of threatening her with dire consequences if she continued the relationship. She said she moved from Mumbai to Delhi as she feared for her life there.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ekta Gauba said prima facie there was sufficient ground to file a first information report against the two. The court said the police needed to investigate the case and collect evidence “keeping in view the high and influential status” of the mother and son.

According to the court order, the incident dates back to May 2015 when Chakraborty allegedly got into a physical relationship with the woman by “fraudulently” administering her some “alcoholic/stupefying substance” in a soft drink. The complainant said he raped her for four years, and later refused to marry her, according to The Indian Express.
