A coach of the Madurai Express derailed at Khandala railway station on Friday morning, PTI reported. An unidentified official said no one was hurt in the incident. But, the derailment led to the cancellation of four trains, said Central Railways spokesperson Sunil Udasi.

“The incident occurred at 2.44 am when seating-cum-luggage rake of 11043 LTT-Madurai Express derailed while entering platform No. 1 of Khandala station,” the official said. “Since the train was moving at a very low speed, no passenger was injured.”

An accident relief train was deployed to the site and the locomotive resumed its journey by 6 am, the official said. Passengers were moved to adjoining coaches till the train reached Pune, where an extra coach was added.

The cancelled trains are: Karjat-Pune-Karjat Passenger, CSMT-Pune-CSMT Intercity Express, Pune-CSMT-Pune Sinhagad Express and Pune-CSMT-Pune Pragati Express. The Bhusaval-Pune Express has been diverted via Manmad-Daund route.

Officials said an an investigation into the accident was under way.
