Unnao rape case: CBI charges BJP MLA’s brother for murder of complainant’s father
Atul Singh Sengar is already in judicial custody.
The Central Bureau of Investigation on Saturday filed its first chargesheet in connection with the death of a man whose daughter had accused Uttar Pradesh MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar of rape in April. Sengar’s brother, Atul Singh Sengar, is one of the five persons named in the chargesheet, PTI reported.
The Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Bangermau in Unnao district is already in jail for allegedly raping the teenager in June 2017. In April, she tried to commit suicide outside Chief Minister Adityanath’s house. A day after the attempted suicide, her father died while in judicial custody after he was allegedly assaulted by the MLA’s brother.
The police soon arrested Atul Sengar and four others for assaulting the man. They are in judicial custody. In May, the CBI booked Kuldeep Singh Sengar for criminal conspiracy, for framing the complainant’s father.
The man’s autopsy report had listed multiple abrasions near the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, above and below knee joints and arms, indicating that his death may have been caused by physical assault.
All the accused are residents of Makhi village in Unnao district. The agency charged them with murder, rioting, voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation and insult. Investigative Officer Anil Kumar filed the chargesheet in Roshanuddaula court of CBI a day before the case completes 90 days of investigation, the Hindustan Times reported.
