A 25-year-old Indian student succumbed to injuries he sustained after visiting a woman at her home in Melbourne, The Sydney Morning Herald reported on Wednesday. Maulin Rathod had met the woman through a dating app and had arranged to meet her on Monday night, the daily said.
When emergency services were called to the 19-year-old woman’s home, they found Rathod had suffered life-threatening injuries. Rathod succumbed to his injuries at a Melbourne hospital on Tuesday.
Rathod‘s friends in Melbourne are now trying to raise money to have his body returned to India, Seven News reported.
The woman, a resident of Sunbury, was arrested and charged with intentionally causing serious injury. Her charges will be revised to manslaughter or murder after she appears at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on July 30.
The accused reportedly lived in residential care and was visited by carers.
