Jammu and Kashmir: Suspected militants shoot dead police constable in Kulgam district
The constable was heading home after offering Eid prayers at a mosque in Awgam village when he was fired upon.

Suspected militants on Wednesday shot dead a police constable in Awgam village of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, the Greater Kashmir reported. Kashmir Police said the militants are suspected to members of the Hizbul Mujahideen group.
According to police, Fayaz Ahmad Shah of Zazripora, was heading home after offering Eid prayers at a mosque in Awgam when gunmen opened fire at him. He was severely injured and later died of his injuries at a hospital.
Shah, who was earlier a special police officer, was recently promoted as constable, GNS reported. He was undergoing training in Manigam in Anantnag district and was home on leave.
