Nepal discusses new constitution, trucks impasse with India
Nepal Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa is expected to meet Narendra Modi on Monday.
Nepal’s new government attempted to resolve its political differences with India when Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa met Indian external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi on Sunday. Thapa and Swaraj discussed Nepal’s new constitution and easing the blockage of thousands of trucks on the two countries’ border, which are supposed to carry weeks of fuel, food and medicines into Nepal. The Indian Express reported that Thapa requested Swaraj to let 300 trucks of fuel supplies, which are stuck at the Raxaul border crossing, be re-routed through other points. Thapa is expected to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday morning.
