The streaming service Netflix has commissioned a second season of Mindhunter, the crime drama series executive produced by David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club, Zodiac) and actress Charlize Theron.
Created by Joe Penhall, the series is based on the true crime book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit by John E Douglas and Mark Olshake. Mindhunter is set in 1977, and examines the efforts of Federal Bureau of Investigation agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) and psychologist Wendy Carr (Anna Torv) to create psychological profiles of imprisoned serial killers to understand how their minds work. The show has been critically acclaimed, with praise reserved for its character development and period design.
In an interview with Billboard, Fincher hinted that one of the episodes in the second season will look at a serial killer who blinded and killed children in Atlanta between 1979 and 1981.
