Something sinister is afoot in the suburbia of Amal Neerad’s Malayalam film Varathan (The Outsider). The trailer shows a couple, Aby (Fahadh Faasil) and Priya (Aishwarya Lekshmi), leave their urban life far behind to spend some time amidst nature. But the locals seem to be threatening, or are Aby and Priya frightened because of something else?
Written by Suhas-Sharfu, Varathan has been directed by Amal Neerad, who has earlier made the acclaimed period thriller Iyobinte Pusthakam (2014). Faasil was last seen in the thriller Carbon in January, while Lekshmi is coming fresh off the success of Mayaanadhi (2017). Varathan’s music is by Sushin Shyam. The film is set for a September 20 release.
