Comedy Troupe All India Bakchod may have turned its focus on newsy issues with its new show On Air with AIB but the people who gave us the Honest Diwali sketch in 2013, made time for some holiday humour this years as well. In a section of the show titled "Can You Not," Rohan Joshi and Tanmay Bhatt take on a real social evil: annoying, impossible-to-avoid social media forwards.

And they've picked a great one to attack: A satellite picture of Indian that makes it seem as if Diwali diyas have turned the country into a light source that could compete with the sun. "The people who believe that is India on Diwali are also the same people who believe Dr Vijay Malaya is in fact a doctor," say the comedians.

Attempting to dispel that myth of the Diwali night image Joshi explains how that map with its different colours is actually a colour composite put together to mark India's population growth in 1992, 1998 and 2003 (each colour corresponds to the year). In other words, this is what happens when you work too hard on your newsy infographics.

We might be very proud of how many lights are lit and how many crackers are burst during Diwali in India, but it doesn't really register on an interplanetary scale. According to NASA, which captured an actual image of India during Diwali above, "any extra light produced during Diwali is so subtle that it is likely imperceptible when observed from space."

Case closed. But don't worry, there's no shortage of annoying forwards for AIB to attack next.
