Watch: World Cup skier nearly gets killed by a falling drone
"This is horrible. It can never happen again."
Drones are dangerous. And how.
The most recent person to come to that realisation must be Austrian skier Marcel Hirscher, who got nearly killed by one such rogue drone.
Hirscher, a world champion skier, was participating in a World Cup slalom race on Tuesday at Madonna di Campiglio in Italy. And as the chilling footage above demonstrates, he was lucky to have escaped with his life.
While Hirscher was on his second run, a camera drone crashed to the ground at a frightening speed just two inches away.
Though it appears that he did not notice what had just taken place and continued skiing, he did seem perturbed afterwards. “This is horrible. This can never happen again. This can be a serious injury.” Hirscher was saved by a matter of inches.
