Watch Hugh Jackman rescue swimmers, including his kids, from a strong riptide at Bondi Beach
The actor, now retired from playing Wolverine, channelled some superhero skills on Saturday.
X-Men actor Hugh Jackman demonstrated real life hero skills at Australia’s Bondi Beach on Saturday. He helped save several swimmers, including his children, who got caught in a strong riptide.
Australia’s Nine News showed footage of the rescue (video above). The actor is also seen calling other swimmers to shore, away from the rip current flowing out to sea.
Jackman can be seen grabbing a man’s arm here, who in turn is holding a girl’s hand. According to a BBC report the girl is Jackman’s daughter, Ava, who was struggling to find the sand bar, and they were holding hands to form a human chain to help her to her feet.
Later Jackman also had to save his son 15-year-old son Oscar.
In an Instagram post the North Bondi Surf Club thanked Jackman for his help in the rescue efforts. The post said there 43 rescues in total and “@thehughjackman was also spotted assisting with rescues! Thanks Hugh”
The beach was closed for the rest of the day.
