On Sunday, retired Australian all-rounder Shane Watson and South Africa's David Wiese pulled off one of the most stunning catches ever seen in Indian Premier League history.

In fact, even that superlative falls short. Have a look at the video above. Shreyas Iyer was batting for the Delhi Daredevils during their chase of Royal Challengers Bangalore's 191 when he skied a delivery from Sreenath Aravind.

So there was Watson, running back from mid-off to take the catch. As anyone knows, catching a ball while running backwards is difficult, but the Australian all-rounder kept his poise and his eyes on the ball, bringing out the dive at the perfect moment to pull off a stunning catch.

But there was more to it. As Watson dived, he realised his momentum would take him over the boundary rope. Quick as a flash, he threw the ball back to an incoming David Wiese who had followed in his tracks immediately after the shot had been played.

Except the tossed ball was just out of the big South African's reach. He dived full-length, perilously close to the boundary rope, grabbed the ball and then seemingly defied momentum, managing to slide to a halt just inside the boundary line.

Even Watson didn't know what was happening, but Wiese gave him a quick nod. And then the entire Chinnaswamy Stadium was on its feet, all in one voice, blown away by what the duo had done.

Sure, at the end of the day, it might go down as "caught Wiese bowled Arvind", but this was a true tag team catch with Shane Watson playing at least as big a role as Wiese. It may not be long before tag teams become a part of the cricketing lexicon.
