At the end of August, Jain monk Tarun Sagar addressed the Haryana Assembly at the start of its monsoon session. A Digambar Jain, Sagar also happened to be unclothed during that speech. In his address, he had said some questionable things about gender relations and the role of religion in politics.

When singer Vishal Dadlani pointed this out on Twitter, a police complaint was filed against him. On his part, Sagar said that Dadlani had a right to differ and criticise him although he put it (video below) a little inelegantly, citing the proverb of "dogs barking as an elephant passes by".

In an upcoming interview, though, Sagar seems to be saying even more problematic things. In the promo for the forthcoming episode of the Chalte-Chalte series on Sudarshan News, news anchor Suresh Chavhanke says, "Girls are trapped by Muslim boys as part of love jihad..." to which the monk responds, "My belief is that love jihad is a way to create a version of Pakistan here."
