Watch: This man was suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. The dog he rescued came to his rescue
As Tony developed dementia, he started to forget things. But he didn’t forget his dog.
A heartwarming video posted by The Dodo (above) shows the how a relationship with Cake, a dog, is helping Tony, who suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease. They spend every Sunday together.
Cake was found by Michelle Karpaitis on the road when the puppy was eight weeks old. Michelle, along with her parents, immediately rescued her – they named her Cake later – and took her into the family.
Tony helped Michelle rescue Cake and the family lived together until Tony and his wife moved into a retirement home. Over time, Tony developed dementia as a result of Alzheimer’s Disease, which meant he started to forget things and became disoriented.
However, he didn’t forget Cake. It was Michelle’s idea to reunite them. The result? Watch the video above.
