Apple iPad Pro to be the next Apple product to lose headphone jack
Apple’s iPad Pro devices will sport a bigger display thanks to reduced bezels and lose out on headphone jack.
Next-generation iPad Pro (10.5-inch) and iPad Pro (12.9-inch) will likely get a design upgrade and will do away with headphone jack, just like iPhones. A Japanese blog Mac Otakara, which review’s Apple products, claims to have received a tip from a supplier who leaked these details. The iPad’s will also lose out the the 3.5-mm headphone jack feature, the blog claimed.
The 2nd generation iPad Pro (10.5-inch) will be reduced to become 247.5mm in height, 178.7mm in width and 6mm thickness. Likewise, for 3rd generation iPad Pro (12.9-inch) the dimensions will be 280mm height, 215mm in width and 6.4mm thickness. Though smaller in size, the new iPads will feature larger displays, thanks to the bezel reduction.
The new iPad Pros in addition to the design changes are not expected to feature a Home button, and instead will include a TrueDepth camera system for Face ID.
A portion of the report also suggests that Apple will use a “diamond cut” for both the front and the back of the new iPad Pro models, which seems to mean that the tablets could have a design that’s similar the iPhone SE with beveled edges.
Apple’s plans to release an iPad Pro with FaceID was first revealed by noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (now with TF Securities) who said the launch will happen in 2018, the Indian Express reported. There’s no word on the pricing but the device is expected to be released somewhere in September.
