Hero Xtreme 200R pan India deliveries likely to begin in coming months
Hero Motocorp will likely offer its naked street bike, the Xtreme 200R, across India in a couple of months, according to automotive website Overdrive.
A popular choice among Indian motorcycle buyers is the powerful 200cc segment, which has seen exponential sales lately. And Hero Motocorp, the largest motorcycle manufacturer in India, riding this wave could soon start deliveries of the Xtreme 200R across dealerships in India in the next couple of months, Overdrive, an automobile news brand, citing sources says.
In July, Hero had launched the 200cc naked street bike, the Xtreme 200R, on its website; however, the company revealed prices only for a few North Eastern states, several publications reported. As per the reports doing the rounds, expect pan India deliveries of the Xtreme 200R to begin around the festive season, a time when motorcycle sales peak in the country.
The Hero Xtreme 200R was first showcased as a concept at the 2016 Auto Expo, before it made its debut in January 2018. The company even held a launch event recently at the Buddh International Circuit to showcase the bike to the media, popular motovloggers and YouTubers. The Xtreme 200R marks Hero’s return to the entry-level performance motorcycle segment.
The Xtreme 200R is powered by a 200cc engine producing 18.4PS power and 17Nm torque, but is somewhat reminiscent of the previous iteration of the Xtreme in the looks department. On the brighter side, this will be first bike from Hero’s stable to offer ABS. The Xtreme 200R gets single-channel ABS at the front and a disc brake at the back. The bike is available in three dual-tone and two primary colour options.
Aimed at the younger generation enthusiasts, the bike was offered as a machine with substantial power without compromising on fuel efficiency. As far as the competition is concerned, the Hero Xtreme 200R will face off against the TVS Apache RTR 200, the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 and the Yamaha FZ25, which are far more powerful and pricey motorcycles. The Hero offering is certainly under powered for a 200cc motorcycle, but it gets the pricing right, putting it in same league with the current generation 150cc segment bikes.
