A day after stunning favourite Pankaj Advani, Sourav Kothari advanced to his maiden World Billiards Championship final after beating compatriot Dhvaj Haria 1250-816 in the Long-Up Format in Bengaluru on Thursday.

Kothari romped to a handsome lead of 1200 against 595 against Haria, but faltered trying to score his last 50 points. The mistake allowed Haria to cut down the gap. He posted a break of 221.

Kothari though maintained his lead to eventually seal victory.

The reigning national champion has been in fine form in the tournament. On Wednesday, he beat outplayed Advani 1000-644 in the quarter-finals.
