A blaze burning near Portland, Oregon has produced a photograph that has gone viral. With the wildfire encroaching, the nearby Beacon Rock Golf Course saw a few golfers finish the round that they were playing.

No, the photos are not fake as the course authorities confirmed. “Our golfers are committed to finishing the round!” read the post on their Facebook page.

That post was followed by another that read: “Viewing the magnitude of the fire and thinking of how many people will be affected and for a long time. So thankful no lives lost.”

The photograph generated quite the buzz on the internet.

“Some people said, ‘Wow, it’s awesome,’ while others wondered, ‘How could they keep playing golf?’” Mark Mayfield, Beacon Rock’s operations manager, was quoted as saying by CNN.

The wildfire a 31,000-acre blaze has led to closure of the adjacent expressway with smoke obstructing visibility and as fire threatens to torch the road, reported Golf News Net.

The social media buzz, however, was dominated by the metaphor the image seemed to represent for the current political climate.
