The Indian junior hockey team went down fighting 2-1 to Great Britain in their Sultan of Johor Cup clash on Saturday. In the process, India failed to qualify for the final and will face Malaysia in their bronze medal play-off on Sunday, reported PTI.
Going into their last round-robin match, India needed a win in order to qualify for the final of the tournament, whereas Great Britain required only a draw.
Tom Sorbsy scored the opening goal for Great Britain in the 20th minute of the game. However, India’s Raushan Kumar scored in the 25th minute to level the scores. Great Britain’s Jack Waller finally scored in the 52nd minute, as England went on to win the match 2-1 and qualify for the final.
