Colin Munro became the first batsman in Twenty20 International history to smash three hundreds after making a blistering 53-ball 104 in the third and final game against West Indies at Mount Maunganui on Wednesday.
The West Indies bowlers were once again put to the sword by the hard-hitting left hander, who struck 10 sixes and three boundaries during his thrill-a-minute stay at the crease.
Munro has been in excellent form recently and brought up fifties in the first two T20Is. Along with opener Martin Guptill (63 from 30), the South Africa-born carted the ball to all parts of the Bay Oval. Munro three hundreds have come in the space of 12 months – his debut hundred was also came at Mount Maunganui, against Bangladesh.
In late 2017, India faced the full wrath of Munro’s pyrotechnics as he cracked a brilliant unbeaten 109 in Rajkot in a game that New Zealand won by 40 runs. The Kiwis finished at 243/5, the seventh highest all-time team score.
