Rajnath Singh asks BJP leaders to be cautious with statements
The Union home minister also said he has spoken with Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar regarding the murders of three Dalit children in the state in the last two
Home minister Rajnath Singh said on Friday that Bharatiya Janata Party leaders should be cautious before making any statements on sensitive issues and incidents. After BJP leaders VK Singh and Kiren Rijiju came under criticism for their recent controversial comments, Singh told ANI, “I feel as leaders of [the] ruling party, we all must be extra cautious before making any statement and [we] should also ensure that there is no possibility of our statements being misinterpreted.” Singh also revealed that he has spoken with Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar regarding the murders of three Dalit children in the state in the last two days.
Minister of State for external affairs VK Singh was severely criticised by opposition leaders on Thursday after he compared the murders of two Dalit children to a dog being stoned, before saying that he did not intend to draw an analogy. Minister of State for home affairs Kiren Rijiju found himself at the centre of controversy on Wednesday when he agreed with former Delhi Lieutenant Governor Tejinder Khanna's comments made in 2008 that people from north India enjoy breaking rules and take pride in it. Rijiju later said that there were attempts to politicise his statements.
