Arvind Kejriwal refuses to apologise to Arun Jaitley, says his name has not been cleared yet
The Delhi chief minister tweeted on Monday that the truth about the allegations against the finance minister in the DDCA case will prevail in court.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday refused the Bharatiya Janata Party’s demand that he offer a public apology to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for defaming him. Kejriwal said the question of an apology did not arise as Jaitley had not been given a clean chit in the investigation into the allegations of corruption at the Delhi and District Cricket Association.
“BJP almost begging me for an apology. Sorry. I won’t oblige them. Let Jaitley ji be cross-examined in defamation cases. Let truth prevail,” Kejriwal tweeted. “That report confirmed several instances of wrongdoings but did not fix responsibility. It didn’t mention anyone’s name and recommended Enquiry Commission to fix responsibility, which we have done now [sic],” he added.
On Sunday, the BJP had asked Kejriwal to apologise hours after the Delhi government released its inquiry report on the corruption allegations, which did not mention Jaitley. Jaitley has filed both civil and criminal defamation suits against Kejriwal and five other Aam Aadmi Party members.
