Eight school children killed in road accident in Karnataka
Twelve other children – all from Don Bosco High School – sustained injuries and have been hospitalised.
Eight school children were killed and 12 others injured when a private bus drove into a school van in Kundapur area of Karnataka on Tuesday morning. A teacher and the driver of the school van also suffered injuries. The Gangolli Police have registered a case.
"Among those injured, one child is in critical condition. The other children and the van driver are out of danger," said a police officer.
The injured have been taken to Manipal hospital. The deceased have been identified as Nikita, Ananya, Selista, Ansita, Alvita, Roysten, Delvin and Clarisha. All of them were from Don Bosco High School in Kundapur, about 400 km from Bengaluru.
The accident took place at Mohadi crossing around 8 am when the private bus, plying from Byndoor to Kundapur, collided with the Maruti Omni van.
