Parliamentary committee warns of another terror attack in Pathankot
Committee head P Bhattacharya said they were told by locals about militants who might be in the village.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs on Tuesday issued warnings of another possible terror attack at the Pathankot airbase, reported PTI. The committee, headed by Pradeep Bhattacharya, was in Jammu recently to review security measures in border areas. After the tip off, the government has sent security forces to find more details.
“After coming back from Pathankot, we made our suggestions to the government and said that there can be further attacks on Pathankot. We were told by the villagers that some terrorists were still hiding in the villages there," said Bhattacharya.
He added that the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs does not support the idea of a joint investigation by India and Pakistan into the January 2 terror attack on IAF airbase. A five-member team from Pakistan had visited India between March 27 and 31 to collect evidence with regard to the attack. “Why they are bringing intelligence branch of Pakistan and what for?” said Bhattacharya.
Amid other suggestions, Bhattachrya said that the committee wants a commission to be formed to resolve issues related to the working conditions of paramilitary forces.
