Lucknow court issues non-bailable warrant against suspended BJP leader Dayashankar Singh
Bahujan Samaj Party members had filed a case against the former Uttar Pradesh BJP vice-president for making derogatory remarks about Mayawati.
A Lucknow court has issued a non-bailable warrant against suspended Bharatiya Janata Party leader Dayashankar Singh. Singh was suspended last week for six years, after he made derogatory remarks about Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati. BSP members had then filed a case against Singh, who has been missing since the incident last week.
Singh’s wife Swati had alleged that BSP members were harassing her and her 12-year-old daughter after the incident. She also filed an FIR against the BSP chief for “mental trauma”. On Sunday, BSP cadre called off protests that had begun after Singh said Mayawati was “worse than a prostitute”, with regard to her allegedly selling party tickets ahead of the Uttar Pradesh elections.
