Independent MLAs Bains brothers forcibly removed from Punjab Assembly premises
The co-founders of new front Aawaaz-e-Punjab were carried out by security officers on the Speaker's orders after they repeatedly protested of the House.
Independent MLAs from Ludhiana Simarjeet Singh Bains and Balwinder Singh Bains were forced out of the Punjab Assembly on Friday for repeatedly protesting in the House. Security officers carried the Bains brothers out of the premises on Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal's orders, The Indian Express reported.
Simarjeet began his protest after Atwal rejected his plea to discuss charging Rajasthan Rs 16 lakh crore to share river waters, on the second day of the ongoing Monsoon Session of the Punjab Assembly. He also protested as Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was going to begin his speech on a resolution on paying tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar on his 125th birth anniversary.
The MLA protested in the Well after the Speaker asked him to leave. He was joined by his Balwinder and a few Congress MLAs. The brothers continued to protest outside after Simarjeet was allegedly thrown out on the road. While Balwinder was later allowed back inside, Simarjeet was not.
This comes days after the Bains brothers, along with cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, launched their new front – Aawaaz-e-Punjab. The outfit aims to "raise its voice against those who have destroyed Punjab".
