Kabir Akhtar, Shabana Azmi’s nephew, wins creative arts Emmy for editing
The American TV director and editor won the award for his work on popular show 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend'.

American TV editor and director Kabir Akhtar on Saturday won an Emmy award for outstanding single-camera picture editing for his work on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Akhtar’s aunt, Shabana Azmi, tweeted about his victory on Sunday.

Akhtar is the nephew of Azmi’s husband, lyricist Javed Akhtar, and a cousin to his son Farhan Akhtar. Kabir Akhtar said of his achievement on Twitter, “omg i won an #Emmy for cutting #CrazyExGirlfriend !!!!!!”

He has also worked on other popular TV shows including Arrested Development, New Girl, and The Daily Show. He was first nominated for an Emmy in 2012 for his editing work for the 84th Academy Awards. He was nominated for another editing Emmy for Arrested Development in 2013.
