Neither government, nor Speaker running Parliament: LK Advani in Lok Sabha
His outburst came amid continued protests in the Lower House by Opposition leaders against demonetisation.
Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party leader LK Advani on Wednesday lashed out at the deadlock in Parliament as the opposition against the Centre’s demonetisation move continues. “Neither the Speaker nor the parliamentary affairs minister is interested in running the House,” he said in the Lok Sabha, as sloganeering and protests continued to stall proceedings for the third week of the Winter Session, PTI reported.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar was then seen pacifying his veteran party colleague. “Who’s running the House? It is running on its own,” Advani said. Kumar was also seen pointing towards the media gallery, seemingly to warn Advani that his outburst would be reported.
When Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned the Lower House sometime later, the 89-year-old leader asked her to adjourn the House indefinitely before leaving during lunch break.
Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu blamed the Opposition for Advani losing his cool. “This is the agony and anguish of a senior parliamentarian over repeated disruptions of the house,” he was quoted as saying by NDTV.
