Twitter to partner with Bloomberg to stream 24-hour television news
The company has not yet named their channel, which will soon be available to Twitter users.
Twitter Inc is set to partner with Bloomberg Media for its latest addition – a 24X7 streaming television news service, The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday. The company has not yet named the channel, which will be available to Twitter users by the end of the year.
“It is going to be focused on the most important news for an intelligent audience around the globe,” Bloomberg Media’s chief executive officer, Justin Smith told The Wall Street Journal. “It’s going to be broader in focus than our existing network.” The companies are expected to make a formal announcement at an event on Monday.
The move is perceived as the micro-blogging website’s attempt at bolstering its user growth that has taken a hit in the past few quarters, according to Reuters. Twitter has already added a few new features and updated its product offerings including live video broadcast from its mobile application.
In October 2016, company CEO Jack Dorsey had said that Twitter aimed to become the “people’s news network”.
