Tamil Nadu: Accountant working at Jayalalithaa’s Kodanadu estate found dead
The police said there was nothing ‘suspicious’ about his death, ‘except that it was unnatural’.
A 28-year-old accountant working at former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s Kodanadu estate was found hanging at his house in Kothagiri, PTI reported on Tuesday. His death comes two months after a security guard working at the estate had been killed during a burglary.
Dinesh Kumar’s mother and sister are believed to have been found him hanging around 10.30 am on Monday. “When the family members found Dinesh, he was alive. However, when he was taken to the Kothagiri government hospital, doctors said he was brought dead,” Nilgiris Superintendent of Police Murali Rambha told The Times of India.
However, she believes that there was nothing “suspicious” about Kumar’s death, “except that it was unnatural”.
Rambha said Kumar had recently undergone an eye surgery and had not been attending office for the last 20 days. “We don’t see any connection or link between the Kodanadu murder case and his suicide now,” she told TOI.
Two key suspects in the murder case of the security guard met with road accidents in separate incidents in April. One of them was killed, and the other lost his wife and daughter in the mishap.
The estate’s current ownership remains unclear, as Jayalalithaa had not left a will and the property figures in a disproportionate assets case in which her longtime friend VK Sasikala was convicted earlier this year.
