Watch: Fire breaks out at slum near Mumbai’s Bandra station, two injured
The blaze broke out during peak travel hours in the city and affected local train services temporarily.

A fire broke out at a slum in Mumbai’s Behrampada locality near Bandra railway station on Thursday. Sixteen fire engines were sent to the spot, Mumbai Fire Brigade chief Prabhat Rahangdale said. One civilian and a firefighter were injured.
The flames, which took more than four hours to douse, had spread to the foot overbridge connecting the Bandra East suburb to the station, NDTV reported. Rahangdale said the fire was spreading to the eastern, northern and southern sides of the locality.
The injured are being treated at the Bhabha Hospital in Bandra West.
The blaze broke out during peak travel hours in Mumbai as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation was carrying out a demolition drive in the area. Locals told NDTV that a cylinder blast had triggered the blaze.

Local train services along the harbour line from Andheri to Panvel stations were temporarily suspended as the fire had spread close to the tracks. The Railway Minister later said that all lines were operational.
Public Relations Officer of Western Railway Ravindra Dhakar said all local trains were running on time. Besides a booking office, the fire had not damaged any other structure at the station.
