Pakistan on Friday allegedly began to fire at Indian posts and villages along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, the Hindustan Times reported.
Troops from across the border began to fire indiscriminately using small arms, automatic weapons and mortars 7.45 am onwards, Defence Spokesperson Colonel NN Joshi said. “The Indian Army is retaliating strongly and effectively,” he said, adding that gunfight was still on.
A policeman told the daily that heavy exchange of fire was on in the areas of Poonch Azot and Digwar.
On October 31, a teenage girl in the district was injured after the Pakistani Army violated the ceasefire, while four civilians were injured a couple of weeks before that in another ceasefire violation.
